01 — ABOUT

NOT FAST FASHION.
PERMANENT FASHION.

How we make it
POLOCOTON atelier team in Porto

Born in a Porto laundry, raised on tennis courts.

POLOCOTON started in 2011 when two brothers inherited their grandfather's knitwear factory. They scrapped 87 styles and kept one: a polo cut from long-staple Peruvian Pima cotton, knitted tight at 220 GSM so it drapes like a tee but holds like a jacket. No logos shouting. Just a tiny embroidered cotton flower — our promise that what touches your skin is pure.

Today we produce in small batches of 300 pieces per color. Each polo is dyed as a finished garment, washed with enzymes, checked by hand, and rested 24h before shipping. That's why it doesn't shrink, doesn't pill, doesn't twist.

Why piqué? Why heavy?

Light polos cling, shine and die after 10 washes. Our micro-piqué breathes, hides sweat, resists stretch. Put it on: structured shoulder, boxy body, ribbed collar with hidden stays.

03 — CRAFT

FROM SEED
TO COLLAR IN 27 STEPS

We control everything: farm co-op in Piura, spinning in Guimarães, knitting, dyeing and sewing in Porto. No middlemen, no mystery.

1
Grow & comb. Rain-fed Pima, hand-picked, combed to remove 12% short fibres. Only the longest survive.
2
Knit tight. 220 GSM micro-piqué on vintage Mayer machines. Slow, dense, stable. No torque.
3
Dye as garment. Sew first, dye after. Rich depth, zero size drift, pre-shrunk fit that stays true.
4
Finish by hand. Collar stays, bar-tacks, side vents, flower embroidery. 34 quality checks.

04 — SUSTAINABILITY

COTTON WITHOUT GUILT.

Organic cotton stack

Less water, more wear

One POLOCOTON = 1,200L water vs 2,700L industry average. Rain-fed farms, closed-loop dye water, solar factory. But our greenest trick? You keep it 5 years, not 5 months. Cost-per-wear: €0.08.

Repair workshop

Repair, re-dye, re-love
